Laren Bates

Laren Bates  

Laren Bates has had a distinguished legal and military career as well as longtime interest in Arizona health care.

In 1996, he retired as deputy staff judge advocate and chief of the Civil Law Division for the Department of Army Forces Command at Fort McPherson, Ga.

Previous to that, he was in private practice in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he also was a part-time deputy county attorney and assistant director and staff attorney for Salt Lake County Legal Services Agency.

A resident of Surprise, Ariz., Bates has been active in a number of civic organizations, having served on the board of directors for Dysart Education Foundations and Friends of Surprise Library.

He has been a volunteer for the Sun Health Auxiliary. He is currently a committee member of the Patient Safety Steering committee for the Arizona Hospital Association.

He received his bachelor of science degree and his juris doctorate from the University of Utah.
