Walt Beck, CEO, Banner Churchill Medical Center
Walter G. Beck was named CEO of Banner Churchill Medical Center in late 2009.
Previously, Beck was CEO at Modoc Medical Center in Alturas, Calif., a 91-bed county general acute-care hospital serving an isolated rural area. In the CEO role there, Beck has directed a turnaround in hospital finances and increased successful recruitment of critical physician and senior facility leadership positions. Also during his tenure, Modoc Medical Center received its first Joint Commission accreditation and was designated a Critical Access Hospital.
Beck is a graduate of California State Polytechnic University, served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and has spent the last 30 years working in rural hospitals. He began his hospital career in suburban Corvina, Calif., working in the maintenance department. There he was steadily promoted. Beck served for nearly 12 years as the chief executive officer/president of George L. Mee Memorial Hospital in King City, Calif., before joining Modoc Medical Center.
Beck and his wife, Raelien, have two children and three grandchildren
