William M. Dwyer
William M. Dwyer is president and founder of Dwyer HC Strategist, LLC, a health care strategic consulting firm established in 2007 in Kansas City, Mo. Previously he was senior vice president, Cerner Corp., a leading health care information technology supplier. Dwyer oversaw specific business development initiatives relating to future patient care information technologies and engaged with senior-level health care executives to provide comprehensive insights on emerging industry trends and issues.
Before joining Cerner in 2004, he was the divisional vice president of strategic marketing at Abbott Laboratories in Abbott Park, Ill. In that position, he was responsible for researching and developing strategic analyses on the health care and medical technology sectors of the United States economy. He held a number of key senior positions during his tenure, after joining Abbott in 1977 as a hospital sales representative.
Dwyer has served on a number of national boards of directors, such as the National Committee for Quality Health Care in Washington D.C., and was a founding member of the National Center for Healthcare Leadership. He is a nationally recognized speaker and has contributed to many journal and book publications.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, and a master’s in business administration with distinction from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, with concentrations in marketing and health systems management.
He is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma society for high academic achievement in study and practice of business and is a recipient of the Laura G. Jackson Distinguished Alumnus Award, for Northwestern University's Health Services Management Program and Distinguished Service Award, from Ohio State University’s Health Service and Management Policy graduate program.
