Ten years ago Banner Health was created through the merger of nonprofits Samaritan Health System and Lutheran Health Systems.
The creation of Banner Health didn’t happen overnight, however. It took months of discussions and planning, including the creation of our mission statement and a 2020 Vision Plan for growth and national leadership. Here are more than ten highlights:

1. In 2005, Banner opened its first brand-new hospital, Banner Estrella Medical Center, one of the country’s first “paperless’’ hospitals. It was built with state-of-the-art technology in electronic medical records to reduce and eliminate medical errors. |
