Innovation -- Part 2

At Banner Health, we are constantly seeking out and investing in ways to improve our patients’ experience: PeriBirth: All Banner hospitals use this system to make childbirth safer for the more than 31,000 babies born annually at Banner hospitals and their mothers. PeriBirth is a complete computerized obstetrics chart for physicians and nurses that triggers automatic prompts and reminders based on thousands of best practices and protocols. E-pharmacy: Rural Banner hospitals now have around-the-clock pharmacist coverage, thanks to this system that allows North Colorado Medical Center pharmacists to guarantee accurate medication dispensing through a safe, secure telehealth system from a remote site. Door-to-Doc: Banner Health’s nationally recognized program, Door-to-Doc streamlined Emergency department care and resulted in a 65 percent improvement in patient access to emergency care. Robotic surgery: Ten Banner Health hospitals offer patients minimally invasive surgery through the use of robotic surgery. Robotic surgery can allow an extra level of precision and reduces patients’ pain, scarring and recovery time. Telehealth: Recognized in Arizona and Colorado as a leader in telemedicine, Banner Health Home Care in Arizona is now part of a National Institutes of Health grant to measure how the feedback patients receive from nurses during their daily telemonitoring sessions affects how patients take care of themselves
