Basic Airway Course
Banner Health Simulation Education is proud to present basic airway management courses at our Banner Good Samaritan SimEt Center that are available for residents.
The ability to provide initial airway management and ventilation is a skill set necessary for practice in medicine, critical care, emergency room medicine, surgery, and anesthesiology.
Course Goals
The goal of the basic airway course is to first educate the practitioner on relevant anatomy, physiology, and equipment.
Second, the practitioner will learn the motor skills necessary to initiate basic airway management with regards to relieving obstruction, insertion of non-invasive airways, mask ventilation, and intubation.
Initially, practitioners will participate in an on-line didactic session that will include articles, video, and a pre-course test. During the course, key points from the on-line didactic information will be illuminated and motor skills will be developed under supervision. Finally, participants will undergo a post-course test coupled with an evaluation of their airway skills.
