PHOENIX (Sept. 17, 2009) -- Studies show medical errors account for more deaths in the United States than car wrecks, breast cancer and AIDS. Experts say hospital mistakes are preventable. And that's why the Banner Simulation Medical Center will open its doors in Mesa next month. Doctors and nurses will train in a 55-thousand square foot hospital that's stocked with mannequins that bleed and burp -- just like real patients. The hope is that practicing on dummies will make Banner's staff more prepared to deal with the real thing.
