MESA (Oct. 15, 2009) -- Banner Heart Hospital, in partnership with Tri-City Cardiology and Banner Home Care and Banner Hospice, has been named the first accredited heart failure institute in Arizona by the National Heart Failure Colloquium.

The Mesa hospital is now one of only seven such accredited institutes in the nation, and the designation signifies the hospital's ability to "provide superior care to patients with heart failure."

Accreditation recognizes the streamlined processes that improve patients' quality of care in the hospital, as well as a patient-focused approach to "transition planning" that prepares the patient for a successful return home and success through their visit to the doctor's office. Accreditation also recognizes patient and family caregiver education that enables individuals to participate in their own care and avoid frequent hospitalization.
