Hospital receives grants for children's program

MESA, Ariz. (Sept. 9, 2009) -- Cardon Children's Medical Center was given an $800,000 grant from First Things First Southeast Maricopa Regional Council to expand its early child development programs.
The Banner Health Foundation, a fundraising arm of the Banner Health, received the $809,318 grant in early August.
-Who benefits?
Families who participate in the hospital's early child development program and who have used the neonatal intensive care unit or Banner Desert Medical Center Women and Infants Services will benefit. In addition, the Banner Babies program and teen pregnancy/teen parenting program will also benefit. The programs provide medical, emotional and developmental care for children and families, said Goldie LaPorte, manager of the Early Child Development program.
