PHOENIX (July 2, 2009) -- In June, a new class of fresh-from-medical-school physicians joined Banner Good Samaritan for residency training in the following areas: family medicine, surgery, psychiatry, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, medicine/pediatrics, orthopedics and emergency medicine.
In addition, a new class of fellowship candidates, getting advanced, subspecialty training after completing a residency, were welcomed in a variety of clinical areas.
Participating in the training of these physicians is an important opportunity. History shows that the majority will stay to practice in Arizona, and many will choose to partner with Banner Good Samaritan or other hospitals in the Phoenix metro area.
"We provide a great medical expertise to the community through teaching faculty who are extremely well versed in the latest state-of-the-art modalities in diagnosis and therapy," says Alan Leibowitz, chief academic officer for Banner Health. "Faculty physicians are not only experienced clinicians, highly skilled in their field, they also need to stay up-to-date on the latest medical research in order to be effective teachers."
Resources like the Simulation Education and Training Center assure that Banner Health's residencies are sought after by candidates nationally.
