Loveland Turkey Trot set for Thanksgiving Day
 


LOVELAND, Colo.  (Oct. 23, 2008) - The 7th Annual Loveland Turkey Trot will be held on Thanksgiving morning – a great way to start the Thanksgiving holiday.

This year’s route begins on Hoffman Drive just north of McKee Medical Center and proceeds north to 37th Street and the bike path at Boyd Lake. It then turns south and heads back to 18th Street where it finishes at McKee Medical Center.

The 5K race begins at 8:30 a.m., just after the kids’ Gobbler Trek, which starts at 8 a.m. The Gobbler Trek is a short fun run that winds around the hospital’s wellness walk and is FREE to participating kids.

You can register for the Turkey Trot in one of four ways:

  1. Online – go to Active.com
  2. By mail – go to McKeeFoundation.com to print the form
  3. In person – at Foot of the Rockies, 150 E. Harmony in Fort Collins or Runner’s Roost, at Harmony and Ziegler in Fort Collins
  4. On race day - registration starts at 6:30 a.m.

Race fees are $23 for adults and $13 for kids 12 and under doing the 5K until Nov. 26.  After Nov. 26, race fees are $30 for adults and $15 for kids 12 and under doing the 5K.  Team registrations of three or more are $20 each before Nov. 26 and $30 after. The kids’ Gobbler Trek is free. All participants will receive a long-sleeved T-shirt.

Prizes will go to the top overall male and female, and male and female Masters runners with the top three in each age group taking a prize.  There will also be door prizes donated by area businesses awarded during the awards ceremony.

One hundred percent of race fees and sponsorship contributions benefit the Kid-Self Pediatric Rehabilitation Program and HeartWatchers at McKee Medical Center.
