Banner Boswell Medical Center hosts blood drive on Nov. 5

SUN CITY, Ariz. (Oct. 6, 2009) – Banner Boswell Medical Center will host a blood drive from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5 in Memorial Hall on the first floor of the Support Services building, 13180 N. 103rd Dr., Sun City.

According to United Blood Services, more than 700 blood donations are needed in Arizona each day. It is especially important to donate blood during the winter months, when our communities see an increase in the number of residents.

Each whole blood donation yields one unit of packed red blood cells and one unit of fresh frozen plasma. A “double red” donation yields two units of packed red blood cells. At Banner Boswell alone, an average of 770 units of packed red blood cells and 350 units of fresh frozen plasma are transfused each month.

Special incentives for donating blood include:

  • Blood Buddies – Get a buddy (who has never donated with United Blood Services) to donate, and you will receive two free movie passes.
  • Donors will be entered in a drawing to win one of three pairs of exclusive Coyotes suite tickets.
  • Free cholesterol testing with each donation.

To sign up, contact the volunteer desk at (623) 876-5333 or visit http://www.bloodhero.com/ and enter the sponsor code: Boswell.
