Banner Gateway to celebrate its second birthday on Sept. 18
GILBERT, Ariz. (Sept. 18, 2009) –Banner Gateway Medical Center at US 60 and Higley Road in Gilbert will celebrate its second birthday on Sept. 18, 2009.
“We are proud to care for the Southeast Valley community,” says CEO Pam Nenaber. “A special thank you to our employees, volunteers and physicians who provide our patients with excellent patient care every day.”
From September last year through August this year, Banner Gateway has had:
- 19,921 Patient admissions
- 48,105 Emergency Department visits
- 6,454 Surgeries performed
- 3,784 Babies born
Banner Gateway was built with an “evidence-based design” model. It’s a design concept that creates a healing environment to enhance the patient experience and support staff in their work. Some of the hospital’s healing features include private patient rooms with large picture windows for natural light, and the unique women and infant services area with a private family garden and a Japanese Soaking Tub to aid in relaxation.
Over this last year, Banner Gateway has celebrated the following achievements:
- Women and Infants Services Growth – Our Women and Infants Services Department has had a 39 percent increase in the number of deliveries from last year. While helping our community grow, we remain focused on our mission of providing excellent patient care and are proud to have one of the highest patient satisfaction scores in the country in this department.
- Innovation
- Robotic Surgery – Banner Gateway offers minimally invasive robotic surgery. By enhancing surgical capabilities, robotic surgery helps to improve clinical outcomes and redefine standards of care. Robotic surgery is often used for gynecological, urological and general surgeries. We are the only hospital in the Valley currently offering robotic Bariatric surgery for weight loss.
- iCare - Banner Gateway was the first hospital in the country to implement this state-of-the-art, remote patient monitoring, care delivery model for all medical and surgical patients. This innovative solution provides an extra level of care to patients admitted for surgery and medical conditions.
- M. D. Anderson Banner Cancer Center - Banner Health and The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center will open the M. D. Anderson Banner Cancer Center on the Banner Gateway campus in late 2011. The initiative joins Arizona’s leading provider of health care and the nation’s leading cancer center to provide patients and their families with an unprecedented level of cancer care in Arizona. It includes a 120,000 square-foot cancer outpatient center and 76 patient beds inside Banner Gateway. Services will include medical, radiation, and surgical oncology, pathology, laboratory, diagnostic imaging, and other supportive clinical services
- Room Service – Patients have more control over their hospital stay by choosing to eat on their schedule. A wide variety of options are available on our patient room service menu.
- Dog Therapy – Thirteen therapy dogs visit the hospital regularly and bring smiles to our patients and their families.
