PHOENIX (April 29, 2008) – Banner Health President and CEO Peter Fine announced today top executive changes at both North Colorado Medical Center (NCMC) in Greeley, Colo., and McKee Medical Center in Loveland, Colo. NCMC’s CEO Gene O’Hara will leave his post Friday, May 2nd , and will become CEO of the developing medical campus of Banner Ironwood Medical Center in Arizona’s Pinal County. On May 5th, McKee Medical Center CEO Rick Sutton will leave that post for the CEO role at NCMC.
“We have a terrific leadership team at Banner Health and have learned that there is a significant benefit to our organization when we ensure that the leadership needs of a facility are closely aligned with the skills of its top leaders,” said Fine. “I am confident that we will see impressive organizational results with these imminent changes, as well, he added.
During O’Hara’s tenure at NCMC, the Banner hospital was recognized for its excellent patient care in receiving both Magnet and Thomson 100 designations, as well as other distinctions. O’Hara played an important leadership role in the successful completion of NCMC’s 2nd Century project that resulted in impressive and beautiful new facilities. O’Hara also has been active and well-appreciated throughout the Greeley community in representing Banner Health.
Sutton has been the CEO at McKee Medical Center in Loveland for the past three years and has led McKee to unprecedented heights in operational and clinical performance. In fact, McKee received Banner’s highest facility recognition in 2008 in winning the “Banner’s Best,” award that recognizes overall facility excellence. Sutton plans to meet with the NCMC leadership team as one of his first orders of business when he arrives at the hospital on Monday, and, as is his habit, will begin extensive rounding in the hospital to get to know the staff and physicians.
With respect to the CEO position at McKee Medical Center, Banner Health will begin an internal search immediately for Sutton’s replacement and expects to complete that search in a timely fashion.
