Banner Del E. Webb event focuses on healthy families

SUN CITY WEST, Ariz. (Aug. 31, 2009) – When baby makes three; a couple becomes a family. New parents often have many questions. How do we choose a car seat? What should we do if the baby starts choking? When should my baby need to see the pediatrician?

The Women’s Education department at Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center, 14502 W. Meeker Blvd., understands this important time in a family’s life and is focusing on the family from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 26, during its free Celebrating Health Families event.

“We’re so happy to bring this event to the community,” said Catherine Walden, women’s health educator at Banner Del E. Webb. “We will have speakers discussing topics such as infant CPR, car seat safety tips, infant choking, when to see a pediatrician as well as topics for parents-to-be such as labor and birth and pregnancy and baby.”

Attendees will also have the chance to tour The Nesting Place birthing suites, meet some of our obstetricians and pediatricians; view exhibits such as OUR365 Newborn Photography, Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition, and have a free care seat safety check conducted by SafeKids Arizona, which will be ongoing from 9 to 11 a.m. in the parking lot. Refreshments will be served.

To register for this free event please call (602) 230-CARE (2273).

“New parents and those about to become parents or contemplating parenthood always have so many questions. We see this so often in our childbirth and parenting education classes,” Walden explained. “Our Celebrating Healthy Families event is an opportunity for the community to see what we offer and get to know our staff, physicians and services, as well as having a fun and informative day.”
