East Morgan County Hospital Celebrates National Rehab Week

BRUSH, Colo. (Sept. 18, 2009) – The East Morgan County Hosptial Rehabilitation department will be celebrating National Rehabilitation Awareness the week of Sept. 21-25. This year’s theme is “Rehab: The Power to Change Lives.” This theme draws focus on the satisfaction that rehabilitation professionals gain from assisting and helping others improve their quality of life. There is no better rehabilitation than that which is provided with compassion and dignity because rehab is not only physical but an emotional and psychological process as well.

East Morgan County Hospital, Alonzo Petteys Rehabilitation Center, offers comprehensive therapy services including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. The center offers state of the art therapy equipment and a warm water therapy pool, and provides individualized therapy programs addressing a wide variety of patient needs. The goal of therapy is to return patients to their highest level of function as quickly and safely as possible. The therapists at EMCH are dedicated toward making a difference in people’s lives by providing excellent patient care in a friendly and caring environment.

Therapy services are available as an outpatient basis or a sub-acute hospital stay if appropriate. Also available are community programs including independent exercise and fitness programs, and sports training.

The EMCH department is hosting an open house on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 12 noon to 3 p.m., beginning with a presentation by Dustin Carter, PT, on vestibular and balance disorders. Free balance screenings will be offered.  Ceri Middlemist, PT, will do a presentation on the “Roll for Control” bladder health therapy program to address incontinence issues.
