$100,000 grant supports Benefits Enrollment Center

 

SUN CITY AZ (April 4, 2014) – Banner Olive Branch Senior Center (BOBSC), located at 11250 N. 107th Ave. in Sun City, Ariz., is the recipient of a $100,000 grant from the National Council on Aging. This grant will help establish a Benefits Enrollment Center at the nonprofit facility, a service available to low-income, disabled and elderly residents to determine eligibility for a number of federal assistance programs.

“Banner Olive Branch Senior Center is already offering a few of these services,” explains Ivy Glinski, BOBSC senior manager. “But this grant is helping us build the infrastructure so that this program is sustainable throughout the Sun City and surrounding communities.”

The federal assistance programs include; Medicare Part D, Prescription Drugs, Medicare Savings Plan, Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Supplemental Security Income and Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

Banner Olive Branch Senior Center has been serving the Sun Cities and surrounding communities for 25 years. The Senior Center offers 25 programs and support services, including a home-delivered meal program, daily congregate lunches, health and wellness classes, a Senior Employment Placement Program and a pantry program supported by donations from the community. The Center is a Medicare benefits check-up site and houses a satellite office for the Arizona Attorney General.
