Acid Reflux: the November Lobby Lecture topic

 

BRUSH (Oct. 29, 2009) – Your stomach feels hot and there is a burning sensation in your throat. Need relief from heartburn or is it acid reflux? The East Morgan County Hospital surgeons, Thomas Bryant, MD, Lawrence Schoelkopf, MD, invite area residents to join them Nov. 12 for the next Lobby Lecture Series topic: Acid Reflux.

Participants will gain an understanding of the following: What is Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease; how it differs from heartburn; the causes and symptoms; the medical complications that it causes; how it is diagnosed; and both medical and non-medical treatments.  Lobby Lectures will be in the EMCH lobby at 7 p.m., Nov. 12.  Please use the main entrance to the hospital. 

Dr. Bryant and Dr. Schoelkopf will talk about the options available for the care and treatment of the condition. This is the fifth in the series that they are presenting to the public. The lecture is offered free of charge and will give participants the opportunity to ask questions and receive information.

Dr. Bryant is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has more than 24 years of experience as a general and laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Schoelkopf is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has more than 17 years of experience. He specializes in general and laparoscopic surgery. Both are certified by the American Board of Surgery.
