McKee awards health care scholarships
$20,000 distributed among 13 recipients
LOVELAND, Colo. (June 9, 2014) – McKee Medical Center announced today that it is providing $20,000 in scholarships to be divided among 13 people pursuing studies in a healthcare-related field.
The McKee Scholarship Fund is comprised of three categories: High school seniors going into a health care related field, children of McKee employees and adult learners entering a health care field. Funds for the scholarships are donated by the McKee Medical Center Foundation Board and the McKee Volunteers.
The 2014 recipients in the adult learner category are Courtney Boynton, Kay Bredvik and Dawn Burt. The recipients in the McKee Employee Children category are Emelia Appelmann, Jessica Eriz and Brittney Greeno.
Additionally, scholarships were awarded to the following high school seniors: Analyse DeSousa from Berthoud High School; Kainalu Antonio and Marinna Mestas from Ferguson High School; Joshua Smith from Loveland High School; Michael Moree from Mountain View High School; and Zohra Aslami and Taryn Rydbom from Thompson Valley High School.
“We are proud to support the education of these students who will likely be future leaders and caregivers in our industry,” said Michelle Joy, chief operating officer at McKee Medical Center. “McKee has a legacy of providing excellent patient care to our community and we hope these students carry that tradition forward for the benefit of our patients and others they may serve.”
McKee has awarded $414,000 in scholarships since the program’s inception in 1989.
