Banner Boswell announces nursing awards, celebrates employees during Hospital Week
SUN CITY, Ariz. (May 11, 2009) – Banner Boswell Medical Center announced its annual nursing awards, honoring three individuals for their commitment to excellence in patient care during National Nurses Week, May 4-8.
Congratulations to the following employees for their dedication to patient care:
- Marsha Grobman, RN, senior clinical manager in the Medical Intensive Care Unit, was selected as Nursing Leader of the Year. Grobman, a Glendale resident, has worked at Banner Boswell since April 2003. Nominated by her staff, Grobman “always steps up and leads by example. She holds herself and others accountable. She always goes above and beyond her responsibilities as a leader.”
- Nancy McMillan, RN, clinical manager in the Wound Management center, was selected as Nurse of the Year. McMillan, a resident of Sun City, “continually demonstrates nursing excellence and commitment to her patients and to Banner Boswell through her clinical expertise, her willingness to provide on-going care and support for her patients and foremost her willingness to make a difference in people's lives.” McMillan has been with Banner Boswell since November 2004.
- Lindsay Hall, clinical care technician on patient care unit 5A, was named Assistive Person of the Year. A resident of Sun City, Hall has been with Banner Boswell since November 2007. Hall “anticipates her patients’ needs and holds true to her promises. She communicates with her patients and families with clarity and compassion and always manages to bring a smile to the faces of those she serves, even in the most difficult times. She is often seen holding a patient's hand or offering to listen when emotional support is needed.”
Banner Boswell continues celebrating employees this week during National Hospital Week, May 10-16. Activities for staff include an employee appreciation meal, an ice cream social and relaxation massages.
“Whether providing care at the bedside or offering behind-the-scenes support, all Banner Boswell employees and physicians play an integral role in the hospital experience from the moment patients enter the facility to when they are discharged,” said Dave Cheney, CEO. “This week, we honor our employees for all they do every day to make a difference in people’s lives.”
