Jim Brannon named CEO of Banner Medical Group

PHOENIX (March 17, 2009) – Jim Brannon has been appointed chief executive officer for the Banner Medical Group, a multi-state physician group, beginning April 1, 2009.  Banner Medical Group has physician practices in seven states, including more than 200 in the metropolitan Phoenix area.

Brannon joins Banner after being the chief operating officer for the Aurora Medical Group in Milwaukee, Wis. Prior to that, he worked for Baptist Memorial Health Care System in Memphis, Tenn. as the vice president of Network Operation and Relations. He was the recipient of the American Medical Group Association Preeminence Award in 2006 and co-led the Aurora Medical Group in receipt of the AMGA Acclaim Award, Honoree in 2002.

He graduated from Baylor University in 1980 and immediately went into managing physician clinics and surgery centers.

Brannon’s rich experiences make him an ideal for the job, said Ron Bunnell, executive vice president/chief administrative officer of Banner Health.

“One of Banner Health’s key strategies is to work collaboratively with committed physicians. We will be developing new models for aligning physicians to improve care.  An important step toward successful execution of our strategies is to consolidate all of Banner’s employed physicians with clinic practices under one single leadership,’’ Bunnell said.

Banner Health’s physician practices include Banner Arizona Medical Clinic in Phoenix’s Northwest Valley as well as pediatric sub-specialists at Banner Children’s Hospital at Banner Desert Medical Center, and primary care and specialists located primarily in the East Valley. Banner Health also has an extensive network of physician practices in northern Colorado and in Fairbanks, Alaska.
