Cardon Children’s Medical Center to Host “Kids Summer Survivor Fair”
MESA, Ariz. (July 27, 2009) Cardon Children’s Medical Center is hosting a “Kids Summer Survivor Fair” Saturday Aug. 1 at the Mesa Convention Center.
The event is a health and safety fair featuring Banner Health doctors, nurses and dieticians as well as representatives from the Mesa Police and Fire departments and Mesa community businesses.
The free event, which runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., will feature demonstrations on water safety, gun safety, fire safety, car seat safety, kids’ ID fingerprinting kits, blood pressure checks, flu information, scoliosis screenings, diabetes education, nutrition, and bicycle helmet fittings. (The first 250 children fitted will receive a free bicycle helmet.)
In addition, the event will feature a bouncy house, obstacle course, professional story telling, clowns, face painting, therapy dog demonstrations as well as hoola-hoop and jump rope contests.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a new unwrapped toy to donate to Andrea’s Closet which provides toys to patients of Banner Health owned-and-operated Cardon Children’s Medical Center.
“We are looking forward to promoting healthy lifestyle choices for children and their families,” said Tracey Fejt, Cardon Children’s Injury Prevention coordinator. “This event will feature fun activities for the whole family and will be a source of valuable safety information as well.”
The Kids Summer Survivor Fair will take place in Centennial Hall at the Mesa Convention Center located at 263 N. Center St. in Mesa.
Participating sponsors include Raising Arizona Kids, McDonald’s, Target, Safeway, Farmer’s insurance and Radio Disney.
