Learn Your Numbers with EMCH at the 9Health Fair on April 25
BRUSH, Colo. (April 10, 2009) – Number are important for everyone, whether it is for your job, your personal life, or your health. The 9Health Fair is an excellent way to find out what your health numbers are and how those numbers affect you. East Morgan County Hospital is pleased to partner with the 9Health Fair again this year. On Saturday, April 25, from 7 to 11 a.m., Morgan County Fairgrounds will be the place to find out what those numbers mean to you.
These numbers are determined through several low-cost screenings, with numerous free screenings available that day. The 9Health Fair will once again be offering:
- $30 Blood Chemistry screening; provides participants with a baseline check on their cholesterol, blood glucose, liver, kidneys, thyroid and more
- $25 Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) screening; identifies a man’s risk for prostate cancer
- $20 Colon Cancer Screening Kit; this take-home/mail-in kit checks for human blood in the stool which can lead to colon cancer. Volunteer 9Health Fair nurses and doctors will call participants who have abnormal results.
Free screenings will include:
- Oral
- Finger-Stick Glucose
- Talk with a Health Professional
- Talk with a Pharmacist
- Blood Pressure
- Hearing
- Height/Weight/Body Mass Index (BMI)
- Body Fat Skinfold Measurement
- Body In Balance
- Vision
- Eye Health
- Mental Health
- Metabolic Syndrome
- Nutrition
Participants with serious health issues are notified by volunteer nurses and doctors within 72 hours of their 9Health Fair visit and encouraged to seek immediate medical attention. Follow up resources are available for those with little or no health insurance.
Educators from health-related organizations will be on hand to answer questions about a variety of health issues ranging from prescription drugs to diabetes to diet and exercise and more.
There will be Spanish-speaking volunteers at the fair to help those who may need interpretation.
Major sponsors of the 9Health fairs all over the state are 9NEWS, Colorado National Guard, Lions Clubs, Quest Diagnostics, and King Soopers. Local support has come from East Morgan County Hospital, Brush Lions Club, East Morgan County Hospital Auxiliary, Brush Rotary Club, Brush Chamber of Commerce and Brush Grocery Kart.
