McKee Medical Center employees earn certifications in various fields

 

LOVELAND, Colo. (Dec. 18, 2009) –Several McKee Medical Center employees have earned certifications for their respective fields including diabetes education, sterile processing for surgical services and volunteer leadership.

  • Elizabeth Long, M.S., R.D., C.D.E., earned the Certified Diabetes Educator status.

    The National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators announced that Long, an outpatient dietitian at McKee, achieved Certified Diabetes Educator status by successfully completely the Certification Examination for Diabetes Educators. Achieving certification status demonstrates to people with diabetes and other health care professionals that Long possesses the specialized knowledge needed to provide quality of care for people with diabetes.   • Sterile Processing Department staff members receive certification.

    Staff members of McKee’s Sterile Processing Department have received certification through the International Association of Hospital Central Service Management. The Sterile Processing Department is responsible for cleaning, preparing, processing, storing and issuing medical and surgical supplies and equipment for patient care. The certification is not required, but is something each staff member did voluntarily to help the department to provide the best and safest products and instruments for patient care. Department members include: Bill Richard, Pam Babbitt, Joy Murren, Gilbert Garcia, Mickey Neuhaus, Connie Weakland, Karen James and Cindy Richard.

  • Janice Greeno earns volunteer certification.

    Volunteer Service Coordinator Janice Greeno received the Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services status through the Association for Health Care Volunteer Resource Professionals. Years of experience in volunteer resources and a passing a test qualified Greeno for the certification. She joins an exclusive group of volunteer resource professionals in Colorado who hold the certification.
