Banner Boswell RN wins Best of the West Award
SUN CITY, Ariz. (Nov. 3, 2010) – Gloria Powell, the Emergency Medical System liaison at Banner Boswell Medical Center, always puts the patient first, especially when it comes to implementing programs in the nonprofit hospital’s Emergency department. During her first year in the position, her efforts measurably improved intervention for heart attack and stroke victims.
Her work in emergency care was recognized on Oct. 28 during Westmarc’s Best of the West 2010 awards when she was won in the category “Leadership-Individual.”
“In her role as EMS liaison, Gloria is known as a teacher, a friend, a trusted advisor, but most of all, a patient advocate,” said Dave Cheney, CEO of Banner Boswell. “Her dedication to excellence and superior service to the community is leadership at its best.”
Banner Health was also represented in two honorable mentions at the annual awards ceremony. Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center in Sun City West was represented by Brian Shelley, respiratory supervisor in the hospital’s Cardiopulmonary department. He won honorable mention in the category “Emerging Leader,” where he’s respected for the positive impact he’s had on the hospital’s programs and patient care.
At Banner Estrella in Phoenix, going “green” garnered honorable mention in the “Building Business – Sustainability” category. The Hospital’s “Think Green for a Sustainable Future” program has translated into more than a million dollars worth of savings.
