Banner Estrella names new chief nursing officer
PHOENIX, AZ (Sept. 29, 2010) – Nancy Adamson, RN, has accepted the position of chief nursing officer (CNO) at Banner Estrella Medical Center. She replaces Karin Toci, RN, who has been Banner Estrella's CNO since 2008. Toci moved to Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale as CNO. An original member of the Banner Estrella team, Adamson has served as director of Medical/Surgical services at Banner Estrella since 2004. She has also had the opportunity to assume an interim role as chief nursing officer of Sterling Regional Medical Center, a Banner Health hospital in Colorado.
Adamson, who received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1978 from University of Arizona, brings more than 32 years of experience in various nursing and leadership positions. She earned a Master in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2007.
“Nancy is an existing, proven leader and an excellent example of Banner’s commitment to the talent management process,” said Rob Gould, CEO. “Her strengths in coaching, employee engagement, quality, and safety, have made a great impact on our patients and this facility. I am confident she will continue to lend her wealth of knowledge, experience and leadership to providing an excellent patient experience and increasing the quality of care at Banner Estrella.”
“I am proud and excited to join the administrative team,” said Adamson. “In my new role as CNO, I have the ability to make a difference in a greater number of patients’ lives. With advancing technology, bright and innovative minds, and a desire for excellence, I look forward to leading the nursing staff through the innovation phase at Banner, in pursuit of positive patient outcomes and industry leader performance.”
