Banner Good Samaritan granted Magnet® recognition for nursing excellence
PHOENIX (Oct. 5, 2010) — Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center has been recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a facility that demonstrates nursing excellence.
Of approximately 6,000 hospitals nationwide, only 373 have earned Magnet® recognition to date. The recognition means that the hospital is one of the nation’s leading health care facilities for nursing care.
Hospitals must periodically demonstrate that their nurses qualify for this prestigious honor. Banner Good Samaritan recently submitted more than 2,000 pages of documents to the ANCC, demonstrating its commitment and results in areas such as patient safety, patient outcomes, innovation in nursing care and community service and outreach.

This is the second time that Banner Good Samaritan has been honored by the ANCC. The first time the hospital was granted Magnet® status was in 2005.
