Banner Health Community Hospital begins Wellness Tuesdays
TORRINGTON, Wyo. (July 6, 2010) - Community Hospital is excited to announce the start of Wellness Tuesdays, beginning on Tuesday, July 13. This program allows participants to receive wellness blood screenings at reduced cost through the Community Hospital Laboratory. The screenings will be held every Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Participants must call in advance for an appointment at 532-3184. This program is a great opportunity for those who need a screening test in between the Spring and Fall Community Blood Draws.
Tests offered through the Wellness Tuesdays program include:
- Hemogram ($10): Complete blood count (CBC) of red and white blood cells with platelets. Also, screens for anemia and leukemia and other disorders that affect the cells in your blood.
- Wellness Panel ($30): Lipid, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Uric Acid, CMP, GGT and TSH. 12 hour fast required.
- Lipid Profile ($20): Cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL. 12 hour fast required.
- Iron Profile ($25): Ferritin, Iron, TIBC.
- Hemoglobin A1C ($20): Measures historical blood sugar control up to three months. This test is recommended twice a year for diabetics.
- Thyroid Profile ($30): TSH, Free T4.
- TSH ($20): Thyroid.
- PSA for men ($25): Screening for prostate cancer in men over age 50. If there is a family history, it is recommended at age 40.
- Blood Type ($20): Determination of ABO blood group and Rh type. Group and typing of expectant mothers and newborns may indicate potential for ABO hemolytic disease of the newborn. Rh0(D) typing is used to determine Rh immune globulin candidacy for prenatal and postpartum patients.
- Vitamin D-25Hydroxy ($30): Provides an assessment of overall vitamin D status for the screening of deficiency or toxicity. This test measures both D2 and D3 together and reports a total 25-hydroxy vitamin D. Several factors are associated with an increased risk of developing vitamin D deficiency.
