Banner Health named one of Top 25 Connected Hospitals

PHOENIX (Aug. 27, 2010) — Health Imaging and IT magazine has recognized nonprofit Banner Health as being one of the Top 25 Connected facilities in the country.

The industry magazine cited Banner Health for its systemwide implementation of electronic medical records and computerized provider-order entry systems and advances in radiology.

The magazine also looked at how Banner Health has reduced emergency wait times. At Banner Estrella Medical Center, in west Phoenix, the average wait time is 29 minutes.

Banner Health has invested heavily into its Care Transformation strategy, which is distinguished by an enhanced suite of electronic medical records, computerized provider order entry and patient identification. By 2011, all of our hospitals will have Care Transformation, making Banner one of the first hospital systems in the country to offer this level of care.

In ranking facilities, magazine editors looked at how well the facility has integrated electronic medical records, its use of health information exchanges and the number of physicians and referring physicians with remote access to clinical images and patient data. They also looked at the number and breadth of clinical IT systems deployed.
