Banner Ironwood Medical Center names CEO; opening on Nov. 1, 2010

PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. (Jan. 13, 2010) – Deb Krmpotic, RN, has been named Chief Executive Officer for Banner Ironwood Medical Center at Combs and Gantzel Roads in Pinal County, which will open on Nov. 1, 2010.

Krmpotic most recently served as chief nursing officer at Banner Baywood Medical Center in Mesa. She has extensive rural health experience, serving as administrator/CEO at two former Banner facilities, Lisbon Medical Center in North Dakota and Lookout Memorial Hospital in South Dakota. Krmpotic holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Nebraska and a Master of Science in Nursing from Arizona State University.  She is certified as a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

The first phase of Banner Ironwood Medical Center will open with a full-service Emergency department, 36 inpatient beds and a focus on general and intensive care, obstetrics and surgery.

Of the 36 beds, 12 will be dedicated to medical surgical care and 12 will be licensed as a multi-service organizing unit, allowing the provision of varying levels of care from general to intensive care based on patient needs. The obstetrics program will include 12 postpartum beds along with four labor/delivery/recovery rooms and two c-section suites. To serve both inpatient and outpatient needs, the hospital will include four surgical suites and medical imaging services (X-ray, MRI, CT and ultrasound).

“I am excited about the opportunity to bring much needed health care services to this portion of Pinal County,” said Krmpotic. “I look forward to opening Banner Health’s latest technologically-advanced hospital, and working with the community to improve access to medical care.”

Banner Ironwood is built on a franchise model that uses research based design techniques to create a hospital that supports a healing environment, patient and staff safety and excellent patient care. It will feature the latest patient care technology including fully electronic medical records and Banner’s iCare Intensive Care system, which provides remote monitoring of ICU patients to enhance patient care and safety. It is Banner’s third franchise medical center, following Banner Gateway Medical Center in Gilbert and Banner Estrella Medical Center in Phoenix.

This first phase encompasses 220,000 square feet. Future expansion in the initial tower will accommodate up to 86 beds with final build-out capacity of up to 500 beds.  Additional expansion will be timed to meet population growth needs.
