Neurologist opens local clinic to improve access for rural patients

Dr. Shaffer

STERLING, Colo. (April 28, 2010) – North Colorado Medical Center neurologist William Shaffer, MD, will see patients monthly in Sterling beginning May 11.

Dr. Shaffer’s practice will specialize in the treatment of patients with multiple sclerosis. Due to a shortage of MS specialists in the region, Shaffer has chosen to expand his practice in northeastern Colorado to meet the needs of MS patients who lack this specialized care close to home.

The clinic will be located in the Banner Health Medical Arts Building, 1405 S. 8th Ave., directly west of Sterling Regional MedCenter.  To schedule an appointment or learn more information about this or other neurology services, please call the North Colorado Neurology Clinic at (800) 303-9128.

Dr. Shaffer received his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and is Board Eligible in Neurology.

He completed the Sylvia Lawry Physician Fellowship program at the University of Chicago. In addition to this specialized training in MS, he brings personal insight into living with this disease after being diagnosed with MS during his second year of medical school.

Dr. Shaffer practices with neurologists Jeffrey Siegel, MD, and Todd Hayes, D.O., in the North Colorado Neurology Clinic based at NCMC in Greeley. Physicians offer patients evaluation and care of neurological conditions including dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, epilepsy and seizure care, pediatric neurology, stroke care, electro diagnostic studies, headache management, cerebral palsy, neuropathy, multiple sclerosis and memory disorders.
