Banner Estrella physician to lead state chapter of Infectious Diseases Society of America
PHOENIX (March 16, 2010) — Banner Estrella Medical Center physician John Po, MD, PhD, has been selected as president of the Arizona Infectious Diseases Society (ARIDS) through a peer-selection process.
ARIDS is the statewide chapter of the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
As chapter president, Dr. Po’s responsibilities include providing leadership for the organization and promoting ARIDS as the main source for infectious diseases information for both patients and physicians. His appointment is effective March 7 and lasts one year.
Dr. Po also serves as chairman of Infection Prevention Committee and Pharmaceuticals & Therapeutics Committee at Banner Estrella.

I am looking forward to growing and building an organization committed to providing Arizona the resources it needs for quality care when it comes to infections,” said Dr. Po. “Being part of this organization also gives Banner Health the chance to shape the future of infectious diseases care in Arizona.”
Dr. Po will present two abstracts at the Fifth Decennial International Conference on Healthcare-Associated Infections on March 18-22 in Atlanta, Ga.. This conference is co-organized by The Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc., and the Infectious Disease Society of America, and receives thousands of submissions from all over the world.
