Washakie Medical Center donates trauma supplies

WORLAND, Wyo. (March 31, 2010) --What better way to spend a winter day than skiing on the beautiful Bighorn Mountains at Meadowlark Ski Lodge?

But as in every sport, accidents can and do happen.  While spending an afternoon on the slopes a few weeks ago, Banner Health Washakie Medical Center employees, Nan Sutherland, Jane and Roger Pomeroy witnessed an accident, involving a male youth.

As trained clinicians, Nan, Jane and Roger helped out the very professional and competent ski patrol members provide care until EMTs could arrive and transport the youth to Washakie Medical Center.

Holli and Wayne Jones, Meadowlark’s new owners and Rich Wachowiak, the head of the ski patrol are very cognizant of safety and of safe practice at the area and the Washakie Medical Center employees saw an opportunity to reach outside the hospital doors to team up with Meadowlark and enhance their first response care by providing additional trauma supplies to Meadowlark.

The employees presented a plan to the administration at Washakie Medical Center to enable our community hospital to help update and supplement some of the trauma equipment and supplies at the infirmary onsite.  Senior administration members thought that this was a great outreach to our community and to our patients.

On Saturday, March 27 this plan was put into place and the first delivery was made to Meadowlark.  Washakie Medical Center and Meadowlark Ski area are proud members of our community and will continue to strive provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all.
