Banner Boswell World Health Day Celebration encourages health empowerment
SUN CITY, Ariz. (March 11, 2011) – Banner Boswell Medical Center invites the community to learn more about their health at a free event celebrating World Health Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 7. The open-house event will be held on the first floor of hospital’s Support Services Building, 13180 N. 103rd Drive, Sun City.
The event celebrates a recent expansion of Banner Boswell’s Family Learning Center and Medical Library and includes a health fair, online health assessments, free blood pressure checks, refreshments and a gently used book drive. Participants are invited to tour the library and meet medical librarian Dawn Humay.
“A lot of people don’t realize the wealth of information available in our Medical Library,” Humay said. “In addition to materials available for check-out on a variety of health topics, we offer use of our computers and textbooks for medical research. I can also assist people who are looking to better understand their conditions or diseases, or want to research a treatment or procedure they’re considering.”
Humay also is involved with Banner Boswell’s patient education team and can provide helpful information at discharge in support of a patient’s transition home.
