Banner Boswell hosts free colorectal health seminar on Oct. 11
SUN CITY, Ariz. (Sept. 13, 2011) – Talking about colorectal problems can be uncomfortable and even embarrassing. But bringing up concerns with a physician can not only answer your questions but possibly help save your life.
That's why Banner Boswell Medical Center is offering a free seminar on colorectal health from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11. Join colorectal surgeons Hadi Najafian, D.O., and Sushil Pandey, MD, for "The Bottom Line: Understanding Your Colorectal Health" in Memorial Hall on the first floor of Banner Boswell’s Support Services Building, 13180 N. 103rd Drive, Sun City.
“No one escapes colorectal disease as it affects almost all people at some point in their lives,” noted Dr. Pandey. “From ulcerative colitis, which occurs in individuals predominately under age 30, to diverticular disease, which affects nearly all people by age 80. Colon and rectal disease spans generations.”
The seminar will cover all aspects of colon and rectal health, including cancer, diverticulitis, infectious colitis, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's and ulcerative colitis), rectal bleeding, anal pain, hemorrhoids, and anal fissures.
"Early screening and treatment of colorectal cancer can significantly improve outcomes and survival rates," said Dr. Najafian. "Arming yourself with knowledge and talking to your doctor about any concerns you have is the best way to attend to your colorectal health."
Reservations for the event can be made online at or during normal business hours by phone at (602) 230-2273. Refreshments will be served.
