Banner Olive Branch Senior Center partners to help support programs for America’s veterans
SUN CITY, Ariz. (Oct. 3, 2011) – Headquartered in Arizona, Operation American Patriot, a newly formed Veterans’ advocacy group, is partnering with local businesses and organizations to assist America’s Veterans in accessing much-needed medical, behavioral health and employment resources.
Beginning this month, the volunteer-run organization, in conjunction with Banner Olive Branch Senior Center and Jobing.com, will host bi-weekly employment workshops to help Veterans fine-tune their resume preparation, interview and self-marketing skills. The first workshop will be held from 1 - 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Banner Olive Branch Senior Center located at 11250 N. 107th Ave. in Sun City.
“When military members return to civilian life, they often experience difficulty finding employment,” said Jerry Iannacci, chief executive officer of the volunteer-led Operation American Patroit. “Our program is unique in that we team the experts up with the veteran job seeker before they apply for jobs or go to job fairs. This affords them a greater chance of being considered by employers. Returning home to a good job is essential to help minimizing stress-related issues.”
To further support veterans, Operation American Patriot and Banner Olive Branch Senior Center have teamed up to operate a 24/7 call center and transportation assistance program. From identifying services for veterans to assisting with transportation to and from appointments with the Phoenix VA Health Care System, the two organizations are going a long way toward bridging the resource gap faced by Veterans of all ages.
To register for the job training program please call (623) 374-2332. If you are a Veteran or family member needing other assistance call 1-877-749-2332. For emergencies only OAP accepts calls 24/7.
