Banner Alzheimer’s Institute offers free memory screenings on National Memory Screening Day

PHOENIX, ARIZ. (Nov. 3, 2011) – Are you concerned that you may be experiencing memory loss? Have you had your memory tested recently?

Join Banner Alzheimer’s Institute on Nov. 15 for National Memory Screening Day. We will be celebrating this national day of awareness with FREE memory screenings at 10 different sites across the Phoenix area.

“Memory screening is an opportunity to learn how you are doing and get information about lifestyle factors that can help you have the healthiest brain possible,” said Jan Dougherty, Family and Community Services director at Banner Alzheimer’s Institute. “Like cancer, early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia leads to better treatment options.”

Banner Alzheimer’s Institute is conducting the memory screenings in collaboration with the City of Phoenix, BHHS Legacy Foundation and the ASU College of Nursing & Healthcare Innovation.

At the memory screening locations participants will receive a15-minute memory screening, obtain tips on brain health and find information about where to get help with memory symptoms or concerns. The event runs at each location from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
