Healthy Beginnings prenatal program to celebrate 20 years

LOVELAND, Colo. (Feb. 24, 2011) – McKee Medical Center and Loveland’s Healthy Beginnings want to reconnect with past participants of the program for a 20th anniversary celebration.

Healthy Beginnings has helped local families find early and proper prenatal, delivery, support and education services since 1991. In May, McKee and the staff of Healthy Beginnings plan to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the program with a special reception, slideshow presentation and a group photo of current and past participants.

Healthy Beginnings has served more than 5,000 program participants and welcomed babies who are now nearly 20 years old.

Proper prenatal care reduces the risk of delivering low birth weight babies who may suffer from physical and developmental problems.

Healthy Beginnings helps uninsured and underinsured women receive care from a variety of health care providers including doctors, certified nurse-midwives, public health nurses, medical social workers and childbirth instructors as well as connecting families with various community resources. The program is supported through public and private resources including the McKee Medical Center Foundation.
