North Colorado Medical Center’s Walk to Remember on Oct. 16

GREELEY, Colo. (Sept. 22, 2011) – North Colorado Medical Center and the Monfort Family Birth Center have organized the 11th annual Walk to Remember for families who have experienced the loss of a baby. The walk and a special balloon release is 2 p.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 16 at Glenmere Park at Glenmere Boulevard and 16th Avenue in Greeley.

The walk is for any family who has experienced the loss of an infant including perinatal or neonatal death, stillborn or Sudden Infant Death. Organizer Ruth Alles, RN, said two people attended the first year of the walk. Last year more than 150 people came.

“This is a day that these families can come together and honor their baby that they’ve lost,” she said. In addition, families develop  relationships with others who have gone through the same experience.
The event includes a roll call of the babies being honored with bubbles being blown after each name is read, a walk around the park, a time of sharing letters, comments or music and a release of balloons with messages to the infants.

Guests are asked to register the day of the event.

For more information, please call Monfort Family Birth Center at (970) 350-6580.
