Robert Fried, MD, joins Banner Health as palliative care specialist
GREELEY, Colo. (Oct. 18, 2011) – Banner Health welcomes palliative care specialist Robert A. Fried, MD, to its team of medical professionals in Greeley.
Dr. Fried will provide inpatient palliative care consultation service focusing on the needs of hospitalized patients coping with serious illness and those patients’ families. Palliative care, a recognized medical specialty, emphasizes managing symptoms associated with serious illness; helping patients and families articulate their goals of care; and coordinating care in different settings.
Dr. Fried completed his undergraduate education in psychology at the University of Pennsylvania and received his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine, both in Philadelphia. He completed a residency in family medicine at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver and a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at San Diego Hospice & Palliative Care. Dr. Fried has extensive experience in hospice and palliative care as well as family medicine.
He is a two-time recipient of the CARE Award at North Shore University Health System in Evanston, Ill., for professional behaviors that exceed customer expectations for kindness, quality and personalized service. On three occasions he received the Physician’s Recognition Award from the American Medical Association.
Dr. Fried is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and International Society of Advance Care Planning and End of Life Care.
