Shelby Nelson named CEO of Platte County Memorial Hospital
WHEATLAND, Wyo. (Nov. 29, 2011) -- Jim Ferando, president of Banner Health’s Western Region, has announced that Shelby Nelson has been named to the permanent role of chief executive officer for Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland, Wyo.
“During the past seven months, we have searched internally and externally to find the right candidate to fill the CEO position at Platte County Memorial Hospital,” Ferando explained. “Through our talent mapping program earlier this year, we identified Shelby as having the requisite background and skills to successfully compete for the CEO role. Based on the results delivered and stakeholder feedback from a three-month interim assignment at PCMH, I am pleased to announce that Shelby has been appointed to the role permanently effective Monday, Nov. 28.
“The Western Region senior leadership team is thrilled that Shelby has agreed to accept this important role and believe her effective leadership style and experience will be an asset to PCMH. Throughout the interim process, we received positive confirmation from all stakeholders that they believe she will be a great fit for the team.”
Nelson brings more than 20 years of health care experience at Banner to this role and most recently served as an associate administrator at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital and Denali Center in Fairbanks, Alaska. Her Banner journey began in the early 1980s as a ward clerk at McKee Medical Center in, Loveland, Colo.
In accepting the role, Nelson said, “I have enjoyed working with this team over the last few months and am excited to continue the work we have begun together. I have been impressed with the staff, physicians and board at PCMH and look forward to becoming more integrated within the community.”
