Learn to manage emergencies at home during Weekend Warrior Wisdom

LOVELAND, Colo. (May 17, 2012) – McKee Spirit of Women will celebrate Home Safety Month in June by launching Weekend Warrior Wisdom to amplify the importance of safety at home.

“We are committed to educating the community that whether it’s a small or large project, safety should always be a priority,” says Sheryl Fahrenbruch, McKee Spirit of Women director.

Weekend Warrior Wisdom provides tips and know-how on what to do when an emergency happens at home. Tom Corson, MD, an emergency medicine physician at McKee Medical Center, will discuss:

  • Whether to go to the urgent care or to the Emergency department when you’ve been hurt at home
  • When does a fall need emergency attention
  • If you are impaled by an object, do you leave it in or take it out before seeking medical attention
  • Why you should just say no to hydrogen peroxide while cleaning cuts at home
  • What you should bring with you to the urgent care or emergency room visit.

The Home Depot staff will present talks on projects that can be completed around the yard including drip irrigation systems, healthy flower beds, shrubs and trees, and container gardening.

Weekend Warrior Wisdom is 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. June 12 at The Home Depot, 1100 Nickel Drive in Loveland. The event will take place outdoors near the east edge of the store parking lot. Refreshments will be provided.
