McKee Medical Center honored as 'Banner’s Best of the Best'
LOVELAND, Colo. (March 30, 2012) – Banner Health presented McKee Medical Center with “Banner’s Best of the Best” award Friday, recognizing the hospital as one of the two highest performing hospitals among the system’s 23 facilities.
The leadership team of Banner Health presented the awards during a videoconference from Phoenix and broadcast to regional Banner Health sites in the western United States.
Each year Banner Health recognizes hospitals based on a scorecard with strategic initiatives. The initiatives have targets in areas of clinical excellence, patient experience, learning and financial performance. Banner Estrella Medical Center in Phoenix is the co-recipient of this year’s Best of the Best award.
Banner Health, a nonprofit hospital system based in Phoenix, owns and operates 23 hospitals and health care facilities in seven states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Nebraska, Nevada and Wyoming with 32,000 employees. This is the third time in five years that McKee has won the award. The hospital previously won in 2008 and 2009.
Marilyn Schock, CEO of McKee Medical Center, led cheers from the hospital’s leadership team after the award was announced.
“It’s really about how great the team is at McKee,” she said. “We continue to stay focused on what we do best which is to provide excellent patient care.”
Banner Health Western Region President Jim Ferando viewed the award presentation in Loveland with McKee’s leadership team and congratulated the hospital staff.
“I am proud of your accomplishments. McKee Medical Center demonstrates high performance year after year. These dedicated employees make a difference in our patients’ lives day after day,” he said.
McKee Medical Center completed implementation of its electronic medical record in 2011. With that clinical connectivity, hospital staff can more easily track information related to patient outcomes and more rapidly address areas of concern which improves quality across the board. In addition, the hospital has continued to focus on patient experience in areas related to communication with physicians, cleanliness and the quietness of the facility.
