McKee announces dates for annual Loveland Community Health Fair
LOVELAND, Colo. (Dec. 18, 2012) – Area residents can start the new year off right by registering for the annual Loveland Community Health Fair blood draw beginning Jan. 7, 2013.
Blood draw registration takes place daily from Jan. 7 through Feb. 28. To register, call (800) 230-CARE (2273) between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The appointments for having blood drawn are available from March 18 through March 23 and March 25 through March 27 from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. each day.
The 2013 Loveland Community Health Fair is Saturday, April 13 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McKee Conference and Wellness Center, 2000 Boise Ave. Participants who had their blood tested may pick up results and visit educational booths and free and low-cost screenings that day.
The Loveland Community Health Fair, which served more than 1,000 people in 2012, aims to link participants with appropriate health resources and referrals. McKee Medical Center and area health professionals hope to promote health awareness and encourage individual responsibility for health. We also hope to educate people about the importance of a personal wellness program and the link between positive lifestyle choices and overall health.
The blood draw is an important part of the health fair process because it provides a basic overall health profile directly to the patient. Then, that person can meet with a local health professional the day of the health fair to review the results.
The blood screenings available are:
- Chemistry panel $30
- Complete Blood Count $15
- Prostate Specific Antigen $30
- Hemoglobin A1c $25
- Colorectal Kits $5
Any participants who receive an abnormal result from a screening at the health fair will be referred to their primary care physician for follow up or provided resources for physicians in the community.
If you can’t pick up your results at the health fair on April 13th, they will be mailed to you. We encourage everyone to share their results with their primary care provider.
Memory Screenings also are available by appointment the morning of the blood draws, March 18 through March 23 and March 25 through March 27. These screenings are important for anyone concerned about memory loss or who are experiencing warning signs of dementia. They also can provide a baseline for people to use in future comparisons.
Those interested in having a memory screening can schedule that appointment at the same time they schedule their blood draw.
