Platte County Memorial Hospital staff gathers aid for firefighters
WHEATLAND, Wyo. (Aug. 14, 2012) – A desire to help local firefighters who have endured a long summer of wildfires, forest fires and high-fire danger resulted in a sizable donation of supplies from Platte County Memorial Hospital employees.
The hospital’s Employee Activities Committee staged a competition among departments to see who could gather supplies that would help the rural and city volunteer fire divisions. Items included Gatorade, lip balm, bottled water, and protein bars. Rebecca Souza, Clinical Informatics specialist at Platte County, has a husband and father-in-law on the rural fire crew, and she coordinated the effort.
“This year has been a very hot, dry year,” said Robin May, Information Technology Customer Relations manager. “We are fortunate in Platte County to have such excellent firefighting resources to fight these damaging fires.”
Platte County wanted to show its appreciation and support.
The hospital staff delivered the items in late July.
