2013 Turkey Trot has another record-setting year
North Colorado Medical Center’s annual run raises more than $50,000
GREELEY, CO (Dec. 3, 2013) – The 16th annual Turkey Trot, presented by Noble Energy, attracted a record 3,762 participants and raised more than $50,000, outpacing the 3,302 who participated in the event in 2012.
The Thanksgiving Day Race raised money to assist needy cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation patients. More than 150 volunteers helped plan and carry out the event, which included a 5K/2K run/walk. For the first time, this year’s event featured a costume contest, with cash prizes awarded to best individual and group costumes.
According to Race Director Craig DeKraai, the annual run “has turned into a very big family event, and over the years it has become part of the fabric of our community. It is most definitely a Thanksgiving Day tradition in Greeley.”
Overall winners for the 5K include: Male 1st place Alex Balsiger, 2nd Tyler Sewald, 3rd Evans Koech; Female 1st Heather Letrata, 2nd Tara Richardson, 3rd Lara Johnson.
