Banner Health Clinic to offer school sports physicals

OGALLALA, Neb. (July 1, 2013) – Banner Health Clinic healthcare providers will offer back-to-school sports physicals 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. July 15 and 17 for area students entering seventh through 12th grades.

Physicals are given on a first-come, first served basis at the clinic, 2601 N. Spruce St., in Ogallala. The fee is $20 and is not billed to insurance. During the physicals, students will be measured for height and weight and screened for blood pressure, heart rate and heart issues. Boys will be screened for hernia. The goal is to make sure that student is physically able to play the sport for which he or she is pursuing.

Providers on hand will be J. Matt Byrd, MD; Gabriel Godina, MD; Kurt Johnson, MD; Monica Patin, PA-C and Crystal Orr, PA-C.

Students should bring the school’s participation form completed and signed by their parents.

Students who can’t attend on the 15th or 17th may schedule a physical in the physician’s office. Banner Health Clinic charges $40 for those appointments and does not bill insurance. Parents who want to have insurance pay for their children’s physical should schedule a full wellness exam, but also check with their insurance provider to make sure that will be covered.
