Banner nurses receive Jannetti/Marriott scholarships

PHOENIX, Ariz. (June 5, 2013) -- Nine Arizona Banner Health nurses enrolled in advanced degrees in nursing were recently named recipients of the Anthony J. Jannetti/Marriott Nursing Scholarship.

Alisha Zimmer received the Excellence Award, a $2,500 scholarship offered to a nurse who demonstrates outstanding vision and passion for the nursing profession and wishes to advance his or her education goals.

Eight nurses received $1,500 scholarships. They are:

Ashlee Erickson, Banner Good Samaritan
Janice Hadley, Banner Thunderbird
Carmen Lombardo, Banner Thunderbird
Rebecca (Beckee) Lucas, Banner Ironwood
Deborah Martin, Banner Corporate
Konrad Robichaud, Banner Thunderbird
Susanne Van Roekel, Banner MD Anderson
Tiffany Zook, BMG Pediatric Specialties

The awards were presented by Anthony J. Jannetti and Richard Romane of the Marriott Corporation at a reception held April 15 at the JW Marriott at Desert Ridge. The annual scholarship honors Anthony Jannetti, long-time Banner Health Foundation board member, and his commitment to support the nursing profession.
The scholarship was developed in 1992, with JW Marriott Corporation joining in 2006. To date, more than 148 Banner Health nurses have benefitted from the generosity and commitment of Jannetti and his friends in the hospitality community.
