Candle Lighting Vigil Held for Children Who Have Died
LOVELAND, CO (Dec. 4, 2013)--- The Worldwide Candle Lighting Vigil to remember and honor the memory of beloved children who have died will be held Sunday, December 8 at the McKee Conference & Wellness Center at 6:30 p.m.
The second Sunday in December is National Children’s Memorial Day. The candle lighting vigil is part of a worldwide event in which candles are lit in every time zone around the world at 7:00 p.m., beginning in New Zealand. For a 24-hour period, candles burn in remembrance of children who have died.
The vigil will take place inside the McKee Conference & Wellness Center located at 2000 Boise Avenue in Loveland. Participants will gather for an invocation, followed by a bagpipe interlude and indoor processional with the reading of names. Due to the forecast of below zero temperatures, the traditional outdoor processional will be held inside. Candles may be lit at the Angel for Lost Children statue on the McKee Wellness and Nature Walk at the attendee’s discretion. The event is hosted by the McKee Medical Center Foundation and Pathways Hospice – Community Care for Northern Colorado. Refreshments will be available following the ceremony.
Family and friends are invited to attend the vigil and remember and honor the memory of children who have passed away.
If you would like to have a child’s name written on one of the luminaries that will light the pathway to the Angel Statue, free of charge, please call (970) 203-2519 by Dec. 6.
