Hospital wellness program earns recognition
STERLING, Colo. (Sept. 16, 2013) – The Wellness Council of America has given Well Workplace status to the Sterling Regional MedCenter wellness program for employees, recognizing the hospital as one of America’s healthiest companies.
WELCOA offers four levels of the award, and Sterling received platinum, the highest level, with a score of 179.13 points out of a possible 180. Areas of evaluation included:
• Senior level support
• Cohesive wellness teams
• Data collection to drive health efforts
• Operating plans
• Appropriateness of interventions
• Supportive environments
• Consistency in evaluation of outcomes.
In 2013, 11 companies received platinum awards, 23 earned gold and two earned silver awards.
The hospital’s Rise and Shine with Wellness program offers quarterly incentives for employees to encourage fitness, nutrition, stress management and behaviors like financial fitness. The recognition by the Wellness Council of America recognizes the quality of the hospital’s program for following national wellness standards.
